Beyond the 4th World Forum
Once again in 2014, the main event of the annual festival dedicated to the “Culture of Peace” organized by the Association Culture Ticino Network proved to be a great success.
The event is constantly growing year after year, so much to be praised by the National Councillor Marco Romano, which has recognized its importance and extent: “World Forum for Peace has by now become an event which is an integral part of our territory”.
In the three days in which the fourth edition of this event took place, have been plenty of guests, activities, shows, social moments, always focused on culture, dialogue and solidarity.
The main topics were at the center of discussions at the Università della Svizzera Italiana in the first two days of the Forum, then focusing on the new generations in the beautiful final day (10 November) at Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano: the last day alone was attended by 430 people including students and teachers.
To learn more about it, you can consult the press release with the full description of the event, downloading the PDF here.
Finally, it was largely successful also the last event of the year related to the World Forum for Peace, the concert which was held December 13, 2014, at the church of St. Nicholas in Besso, Lugano. The concert, performed by the talented Kolping Singers of Lugano, also saw the wonderful participation of the harpist Elisa Netzer.
We can therefore be satisfied with the success of this fourth edition of the World Forum for Peace. But it’s already time to think about the next edition: World Forum for Peace 2015, in which we will celebrate five years of activity of the association and we will try to do even better than we did in the previous editions.
Specifically, the fifth edition of the Forum will be accompanied by the fundraising for two different projects that our Association wants to organize and support:
- The first one is the project “Petals of Peace”, which will start in September, an after-school program for elementary school children, organized in several appointments throughout the school year and which will consist essentially in various interactive activities offered to participants. These appointments will include artistic, theatrical, musical laboratories, shows, workshops with projections, stories and tales accompanied by pictures, music and much more. At the heart will be only positive and apolitical messages messages which is good that the kids know already from a young age, as protection of human rights, solidarity, dialogue, tolerance.
- The second project concerns the fundraising for an orphanage in the Philippines. Many schools in the Philippines are in severe financial difficulty, classes with no materials and with more than forty students per class. Therefore our will, through a contact person who is on-site, it’s to create a bridge between Ticino and Philippines and to set up a fundraising in order to buy the necessary materials to this orphanage.
