PEACE VILLAGE 2019

 

Monday 11 November 2019 will take place, at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano, the “Peace Village 2019”: the educational day, on peace topics, dedicated to the Schools of Ticino Canton.
The Peace Village is inserted inside the 9° Peace World Forum frame.

 

We inform you that we have reached the maximum number of students participating in the “Peace Village” workshops. For this reason, also this year, we are forced to close earlty the registrations. Many thanks to all!

The day, carried out in collaboration with other associations and sectors professionals, who will make available their experience, will see the occurring of 11 workshops on humanitarian, peace and respect for humans, animals and nature topics. During the day, there will be two rounds of workshop: from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm. The lunch, the usual ” Solidarity Maccheronata”, will be served and organized in collaboration with Mr. Gadina from “Associazione Carnevale of Lugano”.

We are also pleased to inform you that in the month of July “The Peace Village” received the important patronage from the Gruppo 20 Novembre per i diritti del bambini  on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the UNU Convention on the Rights of the Child and by the DSS (Dipartimento della sanità e della società e Info Famiglie). Inside the village there will therefore also be a dedicated station so as to raise awareness and share the values ​​of childhood rights of childhood, adolescence and Youth.

 

PROGRAM

At 8:45 am: Welcome to Palazzo dei Congressi

From 9:00 am to 9:30 am: Official inauguration of the 9° Peace World Forum with the participation of special guest and the welcoming of our president Margherita Maffeis. The Bellinzona 2 Secondary School choir, directed by Thomas Guggia, will accompany the inauguration ceremony.

From 10:00 am to 12:00 pm: First Workshops Round

From 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm: Lunch Break – Solidarity Maccheronata

From 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm: Second Workshops Round

Workshop 1

THE PEACE IN THE HEART OF HUMAN RIGHTS

By Margherita Maffeis, Culture Ticino Network President and Founder and Honorary Consul of Philippines in Ticino

This Workshop want to deepen three main topics: the first one is related to the right to have an appropriate nutrition, the second one is related to the right to have access to a good education and the last one is related to the right to live in a clean environment. All these topics will be examined through a Swiss and a Philippines point of view, where Culture Ticino Network Association operate.

Workshop 2

THE PEACE IN THE ACCEPTANCE OF OTHERS

The Forum workshop aims to deepen the importance of acceptance, the danger of discrimination, the need for dialogue between the different components of society and the encounter with different cultures and religions. The Workshop will be interactive and will be divided in 3 moments.

Workshop 3

SCHOOL: A RIGHT, AN HOPE, A PLEASURE

Manishimwe Association has created a school in Masaka in Rwanda that today count more than 1000 scholars. During the Workshop people will reflect on different important aspects of this project and will be faced with topics as the school as a right and as reference point for the boys and what means to collaborate with a community.

Workshop 4

COOPI SUISSE & AMNESTY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE RIDUCTION OF THE RISKS AND DISASTERS

The sustainable peace is possible only when all persons can fully enjoy of their rights. The Workshop will focus particularly on climate changes and the effects of environmental disasters on people who lives in delicate contexts. The Workshop will lead the boys to the awareness about the possibility they have to affect in these settings, and to show the power and efficiency of individual actions and choices.

Workshop 5

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL & COOPI SUISSE FOR FOOD SECURITY

It is a human right having a sure access to adequate food. The Workshop will start with the topic of the access to certain food, in quality and quantity that are enough, letting the boys carry out activities that will allow them to know better the fragile realities where the food is not granted.

Workshop 6

WHO SAVE A LIFE, FIND A TREASURE

The Workshop will explain what means, for a dog, to be abandoned by his family, his feelings and fears. Also animals suffer, psychologically and physically, and it will be taught to the children how to recognize the main signs the dog give us, important in order to better understand his mood and prevent/avoid potential dangers.

Workshop 7

A LOT OF PROJECTS, A SINGLE POWERFUL ENGINE: THE LOVE FOR NEEDY CHILDREN

The Workshop will present the activities pursued by Futuro e Speranza Association, with specific reference to the Santa Filomena project. During the Workshop photos and videos will be showed and will be deepened topics related to the children rights.

Workshop 8

LET’S CREATE A BRIDGE THAT WITH THE HEART COULD SUSTAIN HUMAN RIGHTS IN SWITZERLAND AND IN THE PHILIPPINES

The Workshop aim at giving to the children/boys the opportunity to understand the differences of life that can exist living in Switzerland or in a faraway nation as the Philippines. It will be given particular importance to the simple daily things; pictures, photos, videos, and illustrations will be used as a stimulus in order to let the boys think about human rights.

Workshop 9

HUMAN VALUES: THE FOUNDATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

What mean freedom, equality, dignity and rights? Thanks to two focus pictures and four short stories, the Workshop will explore the significance of these concepts and the importance of human values as foundation of human rights.

YOUNG PEACE CREATORS
