Project 2015: Orphanage in the Philippines

From Ticino to the World”: is more than a slogan: it has been Culture Ticino Network’s philosophy of life for five years. Five years full of successes and satisfactions. Culture Ticino Network is keen and ready to take a further step on the path to peace and solidarity.

In 2015, Culture Ticino Network will write a new chapter of its “Food and poverty” project. Started in 2013, “Food and poverty” provided two associations, “il Tavolino Magico” and “Pro Senegal”, with 1’500 rice packs. Now it has a new target: the Bethany House Sto. Niño Orphanage of Guiguinto, in Bulacan, Philippines.

Bethany House Sto. Niño is an orphanage under the Diocese of Malolos, managed by Sr. Analyn Dela Cruz. It actually houses 48 children, aged between zero to 12, and its survival depends exclusively on donators and sponsors. Thanks to our valuable local associate Jennefer Espinosa (at the Bethany House Sto Nino), Culture Ticino Network gained knowledge of the situation, and immediately initiated a project to support the facility by allocating funds from its fundraising activities to this small community so badly in need of support.

Throughout 2015, the Culture Ticino Network Association has organized fundraising events, including the 5th Peace World Forum, in order to purchase basic necessities for children of Bethany House. It was a great challenge, but during the month of December, we picked the first results, which allowed us to buy food and medicine for the orphanage. But there is still much to do … so the Culture Ticino Network Association has decided to continue supporting the Bethany House for the year 2016.

In January 2017 our President Margherita Maffeis, visited the Orphanage and verified that thanks to the support of other sponsors the building was renewed. This project has created a more welcoming space for children where they can play and study.

For the years 2017, the executive committee of Culture Ticino Network Association decided to support a new solidarity project in collaboration with the local association COPPA (Children of Paombong Philippines Association).
