Theatrical Collective Giullari di Gulliver presents the play “Tolstoy at Astapovo.”
The evening began at 7:30 PM with greetings and welcome from our President, a networking moment, and a charitable refreshment.
The performance started at 8:00 PM.
The Play: Lev Tolstoy, at the age of 82, is forced by illness to get off the train he was taking to escape from home. He finds himself at the Astapovo station, accompanied by his personal doctor, a daughter, and a copyist. They are welcomed and hosted by the stationmaster, Ozolin. Unbeknownst to the writer, outside the stationmaster’s house, journalists, photographers, and cinematographers gather, along with Tolstoy’s friends and family, common people, police forces, and representatives of the Church. Meanwhile, in the room where he is accommodated, Tolstoy encounters and relives a kaleidoscope of memories from his life.
