12th EDITION OF WALKING FOR PEACE
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of our Association, Culture Ticino Network is happy to share with all of you 4 important events, taking place between September and October 2026 to mark the 12th edition of the cross-border event “Walking for Pace”, in the context of the 4th World March for Peace and Nonviolence, with which we have a partnership.

During this difficult period of time, characterized by violence, conflicts and dehumanization, it is imperative to make our voices heard to claim a juster world. We should all take action towards peace rather than staying indifferent towards injustice and pain. Our goal is to build a better world, educating the new generations in becoming ambassadors of peace.
This special edition of “Walking for Peace” will take place between September and October 20206, thanks to the support of many local municipalities, associations, artists and NGOs, which have been supporting the event for many years now. The idea behind this walk is the willingness of supporting all victims of violence and war around the world: this is why we invite you to participate and make your voices heard for those who don’t have the same privilege.
The donations gathered during all the events will be devoted towards our educational and cultural projects in Ticino, as well as the project “TESDA scholarships”, supporting the professional development of young adults and women in the Philippines. All participants will therefore have the opportunity to actively contribute to building a better and fairer world for everyone.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2026, at 8:30 PM – SOLIDARITY CONCERT FOR PEACE AT S. CRISTOFORO CHURCH in CASLANO
You are all kindly invited to the special “Solidarity Concert for Peace”, which has to goal of raising awarness on the topics of peace, nonviolence and solidarity. The event will take place on the 19th of September of 2026, at the S. Cristoforo Church, in Caslano and represents the opening of the may events organized by our Association in the context of the 4th World March for Peace and Nonviolence, with which we formed a partnership.
We will host three great artists: the Children’s Voices Choir “La Musica di Julia Gertseva” – directed by the talented mezzosoprano, who has performed in some of the most renowned theaters of the world; the City of Luino’s Choir – directed by Maestro Luca Cigolini, which will perform traditional alpine and folkloristic songs; the Chamber Music Quartet composed of four promising students from the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana: Violetta Guatta Cescone (first violin), Rebecca Kemp (second violin), Emma Kemp (cello), Miriam Imperatori (viol).
Entry is free with voluntary donations. We look foreward to seeing you and gather together to send a strong messagge in favo of peace, solidarity and respect: from Ticino to the World. Your presence will contribute to empower these crucial values and promote a fairer and more peaceful vision of the world.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2026 – INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NONVIOLENCE
Our Association is happy to share an interesting project to create new synergies within the community: we want to create a network as big as possible among schools, civil society, institutions and private actors to promote the values of peace and solidarity.
This is why we invite schools and cultural centers from the Ticino region to dedicate a shelf or a corner of their libraries to all those books that contributed to share important messages of peace and justice. All schools available to take part in this project can also organize their own event, with our support, like planning a moment dedicated to reading and discussion during the International Day of Nonviolence, the 2nd of October 20206, to raise awareness on topics like peace, tolerance, dialogue and conflict resolution.
The 2nd of October is particularly special as it marks the anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, internationally regarded as the father of the nonviolence movement.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2026, at 3:30 PM – “SOLIDARITY SHOW TOGETHER FOR PEACE” AT THE “BENNET” MULTIPURPOSE ROOM in LAVENA PONTE TRESA
Don’t miss out on this special show, where music, songs, dances and the precious testimonies will transport the audience throughout an emotional journey towards a better world. We will present three importance performances: young Sofia, whose family is currently living between Ukraine and Russia, will perform at the piano; the Children Choir from the Arcisate School of Music, directed by Silvia Pedetti – which will touch our hearts through songs that have made history; and finally, the young artists from the Max Dance School of Lavena Pote Tresa and the Music and Classical Arts School of Mendrisio – who will be the bearers of important messages. Moreover, during the event, we will host the art exhibition and project “The Cycle: getting out of the cycle of violence”, realized by Swiss-Philipphino artist Mario Brunner, for the 15th anniversary of Culture Ticino Network.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2026, from 9 AM to 1 – 12th EDITION OF THE CROSS-BORDER EVENT “WALKING FOR PEACE”
The Culture Ticino Network Association of Lugano is happy to invite you to the 12th Anniversary of the cross-border event “WALKING FOR PEACE”, which will take place on October 8, 2026 between Italy and Switzerland.
The aim of this Walk is to raise awareness on the culture of Peace, involving not only children and schools, but the population as a whole. The culture of peace is a crucial pillar towards the construction of a fairer world, where human rights constitute the foundation.
The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the welcoming of the Swiss group at Piazza Lago in Caslano, while at 9:30 a.m. the Italian group will gather at Via Zanzi in Lavena di Ponte Tresa. The participants will join on the Ponte Tresa customs bridge, symbolically named “Bridge of Peace”, to continue their walk to Piazza San Giorgio (Lavena di Ponte Tresa, Italy), which will end in the Tresa (Switzerland) Municipal Hall with entertainment for the young participants and light refreshments.
This year’s Walk is even more special because we decided to dedicate it to all victims of war ad violence around the world. Currently, there are more than 60 active conflicts globally and millions of people live under the threat of violence, fear and loss. Among them, children are the most vulnerable: stripped away of their families, youth and innocence, they carry a weight that should never belong to them.
Giving a voice to those who don’t have one anymore, it’s not only a symbolic gesture, but it is an urgent and compellent act. This Walk represents a moment of dialogue and remembrance of all the people fighting everyday just to survive. This event is also a message of hope: the hope that the culture of peace, nonviolence and kindness can change the world, little by little, one generation at a time.
Peace is not simply the absence of war, but the active presence of justice, hope, opportunity and love for the other. It is the right of every child of growing without fear, the right of going to school, of playing, of dreaming… We all have a duty to not get used to violence, to not turn around in the face of injustice and to act towards a better world.
