To celebrate this important anniversary, we have organized in Ticino and in closed Italy – in collaboration with the Italo-Swiss delegation, “Il Tavolo della Pace dell’Alto Verbano” and various municipalities from Switzerland and Italy, as Agno, Tresa, Lavena Ponte Tresa, Luino – three significant events on the topic of “Peace and rights of future generations”. Our Association is also Partner of the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence, which will start on October the 2nd, 2024, and will end on January the 5th, 2025, in Costa Rica. TUESDAY, OCTOBER THE 8th, 2024, FROM 9:00 AM TO
1:00 PM CROSS-BORDER EVENT: WALKING FOR
PEACE

The second of our three significant events will be the unmissable “Walking for Peace,” taking place on Tuesday, October the 8th, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, between Malcantone and Varesotto, marking its important 10th edition this year.

Our Walk represents a special opportunity to unite communities in a shared commitment towards a brighter future. Not only it is open to schools in Ticino and Italy but also to the entire population.

It is important to raise awareness about these issues as much as possible, so that future generations can grow up in a world where their rights are respected and protected. We aim to explain to children and young people the importance of a culture of peace and to educate them about this value. Teaching them what Peace means should start immediately, raising the new generations’ awareness of mutual respect and solidarity.

Peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, hope, opportunity, and love for one another. Educating for Peace means building bridges of understanding and dialogue, recognising and valuing differences as assets rather than barriers. It is a journey that requires continuous commitment but brings with it the promise of a world where every child can grow up free from fear, capable of realising their potential, and contributing to the common good.

Our Walk aims to be a moment of meeting and reflection where every step taken together represents a step up towards a more peaceful and harmonious world. Peace is built day by day, through concrete actions and the willingness to listen and understand each other. Only in this way we can create a better society.

We invite you to participate in large numbers, bringing friends and family with you, to make this day unforgettable and to contribute concretely to the building of a better world.
