The Culture Ticino Network Association in Lugano is pleased to announce its 12th edition of the World Forum for Peace with the theme “Peace and the Rights of Future Generations”, which will be held from November 5, 2024, to November 28, 2024, in various venues in Lugano.

The opening day of the 12th edition of the World Forum for Peace will feature our usual Peace Village on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano. Our Association is Partner of the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence, which will start on October 2, 2024, and will end on January 5, 2025, in Costa Rica. We are pleased to inform you that an international delegation will visit Lugano for the first time during our main events of the World Forum for Peace, namely the Peace Village on November 5, 2024, and the Round Table and Solidarity Dinner on November 9, 2024.

The purpose of our World Forum is to help raise awareness and share “goals and solutions” for future generations. Peace begins with small actions – from ourselves, our families, schools, and every community – and then spreads throughout the world.

This year, the World Forum for Peace will include the following four events:

·         Peace Village, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano. This is one of our most important educational events, entirely dedicated to elementary, middle, high, and vocational schools, featuring 12 peace workshops led by various Associations and Professionals with whom we actively collaborate. These include Friends of Ticino for Burundi (AMTIBU), Friends of APROSEM (Senegal), Association for Sarva Seva Farms (ASSEFA India), FRASI Association, KALKIDAN Association, Discrimination Prevention Centre, PEN Centre Association (war journalists), Swiss Red Cross, educator and author Ivan Magnani, children’s illustrator and author Suzanne Palermo, SOS Childhood Helpline, and more. ·         The Round Table and Solidarity Dinner, Saturday, November 9, 2024, starting at 5:00 PM, at the Hotel de la Paix in Lugano. This special evening will feature important international guests and speakers, providing an opportunity to gather and convey a message of peace while sharing convivial moments. During the Gala Dinner, we will also present our Spyri Award, introduced by the Culture Ticino Network Association in 2013, which is given during the World Forum for Peace to individuals that distinguished in the fields of peace and solidarity. This symbolic award is inspired by the famous novel “Heidi” written by Johanna Spyri. The child protagonist exemplifies helping others, as seen in her support for her disabled friend and her grandfather with mountain work. A big heart full of peace and solidarity inspired the Culture Ticino Network Association to name the award after Spyri, reflecting the values of our Association.

·         The Solidarity Musical, Sunday, November 24, 2024, starting at 4:00 PM, at the Foce Theatre in Lugano, featuring the production and performance of “Romeo e Giulietta, an old side story” by the School of Music and Classical Arts in Riva San Vitale.

·         The Solidarity Concert, Thursday, November 28, 2024, starting at 7:30 PM, at the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate in Lugano. This special event will bring us together in the name of Peace through songs and music.

The final programme of each event is yet to be finalised.
