SUCCESS FOR THE SOLIDARITY CONCERT FOR PEACE

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, starting at 7:30 PM, the evening of the Solidarity Concert for Peace was opened by a welcoming speech from our President and founder, Margherita Maffeis-Natale, in the significant Church of Sant’Antonio Abate in Lugano, filled with a warm audience. The President reminded those present of the importance of uniting forces and fighting together for Peace in a world still plagued by over 60 wars, inequalities, and divisions. Now more than ever, it is crucial to involve both the young and the old in building a brighter future. Peace is not just the absence of conflict, but something that comes from within our hearts: Peace calls for harmony with ourselves, with others, and with nature. Peace is a journey that we must travel every day, a constant commitment to building a better world for ourselves and future generations.

Our President then announced the upcoming events of the Culture Ticino Network Association for this special year 2024. She informed that the Association is official Partner of the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence, which will begin on October 2, 2024, and will end on January 5, 2025, in Costa Rica, and also highlighted that for the first time an international Delegation will be present in Lugano at the main events of the 12th edition of the World Forum for Peace. Furthermore, this year the Association will celebrate its first 10 years of the cross-border event “Walking for Peace,” with three significant events taking place from September 22 to October 13, 2024.

During this meaningful evening, the audience was delighted by performances from prestigious musical groups sharing the same commitment to Peace and Solidarity. The exceptional “BBE – Bellinzona Baroque Ensemble” of the AMULETI Association in Bellinzona, directed by Daniele Barbato, kicked off the Concert, presenting wonderful pieces by Antonio Vivaldi. Then, the children of the “Crescendo Cantando” Choir from the Montessori School “La Casa di Irma” in Bedano, directed by Barbara Busana, performed their splendid songs dedicated to Peace. Finally, the talented girls of the “Cantori della Turrita” Choir from Bellinzona, directed by Daniela Beltraminelli, concluded the Concert, enchanting us with their magnificent voices.

After the significant performances by the choirs and musicians, our President gave a special thank you to all those who participated and helped make the evening unforgettable. She also joyfully recalled our future projects, inviting everyone to continue to be actively involved in the upcoming events and initiatives of the Association, expressing gratitude for their continuous support and encouraging all to keep supporting our initiatives to promote the culture of Peace and Solidarity.

Part of the fundraising proceeds has been allocated to the projects of the Culture Ticino Network Association in Ticino and the Philippines, particularly to the TESDA Scholarships within the project “Professional Training in the gastronomy sector and support for starting independent businesses in the Province of Bulacan” in the Philippines, supported in collaboration with Bignasca bakery-pastry shop in Sonvico.
